People looking for home decorating ideas usually fall into at least one of three categories:

1. People genuinely interested in home decorating ideas because they are, or soon will be, involved in decorating a home, either their own or that of a friend/relative/client.
2. People with products to peddle who wish to drum up interest in their wares, and seek ways to do so.
3. People with…unusual hobbies. Most of us would do crossword puzzles, or play video games, or maybe engage in some artistic or creative endeavor. But yes, Virginia, there are some people – people who, for the sake of politeness we shall call “weirdos” – who seek to broaden their knowledge of home décor and furnishings for no reason other than the fact that it interests and excites them.

Disclaimer: if you happen to be one of the aforementioned weirdos, you probably won’t realize it. You’d think we’re talking about all those OTHER people. So if you have even a sneaking suspicion that we mean you, rest assured we don’t. We like to keep our lawyers quiet.

(We’re not entirely certain why they agreed to this, mind you. We suspect they belong to the third category of people delineated above. This is one of the reasons we tend to communicate with them exclusively by e-mail as opposed, to, say, having them over for dinner every few days. Not many people, we are sure you would agree, see exploring the intricacies of cabinet hinges and shower curtain rods as stimulating table conversation.)
